The challenge:

Diligent needed to build an AI team from scratch for their Global Product Innovation Center in Budapest. The AI team consists of Applied Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, AI Software Engineers across various seniority levels working in a hybrid model.

They were looking for candidates with expertise in NLP and LLM, a challenging task in the Hungarian market.

Diligent had never been recruited for these roles in Hungary before, so they  partnered with TActix to assist building the AI team from the ground up and hire 8 individuals. 

The solution:

We joined Diligent’s team as embedded recruitment partners to build up their initial AI team of 8 highly qualified engineers from scratch. 

Diligent was looking for candidates with expertise in NLP and LLM, a challenging task in the Hungarian market, which predominantly has professionals with traditional Data Science and Computer Vision backgrounds. This made it crucial to conduct a highly targeted sourcing process.

We kicked off the search on July 4th, focusing on candidates with the required background who were located in and close to Budapest. Out of 300 suitable candidates, we launched a personalized sourcing campaign. Within the first month, we identified 34 qualified candidates, including 7 Engineering Managers.

In niche scenarios like this, it’s more effective to run highly targeted sourcing processes, as response and engagement rates tend to be higher.

The results:

In less than 2 month (by the end of August), we had secured 5 offers - all of which weree accepted.

  • 1 Staff Applied Scientist
  • 2 Applied Scientists
  • 1 Senior Machine Learning Engineer
  • 1 Machine Learning Engineer

Early September, we extended another offer for a Staff Applied Scientist, which was declined as the candidate had better offers. However, we successfully secured an additional Senior Machine Learning Engineer.

Our strategic partnership with the client, particularly through managing and adjusting budgets, helped close these critical roles. Additionally, our salary negotiation process ensured that expectations were aligned with the budget.

Due to our success and transparent way of working, it was a no-brainer for Diligent to extend our partnership and support them with additional tech and non-tech recruitment across the UK and Germany.
